Lucasarts: 1982 - 2013

I sense a great disturbance in the force.

Let's face it, the Lucasarts that gave us brilliant and demented games like Maniac Mansion, The Curse of Monkey Island and Zombies ate my Neighbors has been gone for years now. Even so, I'm saddened by this news. We're talking about one of the earliest stars of the PC games industry being shuttered without good reason. People feared what a Disney buyout of Lucasfilm would entail. I was optimistic until now.

Two of my favorite games when I was a kid and just began to play video games (all I had was a PC at the time):

-Star Wars: Rouge Squadron
-Star Wars Episode I: Racer

If not for compatibility issues with my current comps I would still play through both

Lucasarts isn't making games anymore, but they are still alive in that they give out the licenses they have.

Which to be honest I prefer for the star wars games as:

Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast II
Jedi Knight Jedi Academy
KotOR 1
KotOR 2
Star Wars Battlefront I
Star Wars Battlefront II

are awesome as hell and in my opinion, the best Star Wars games out there.

Actually, seconded on both. P.O.D. racer is the only racing game I played that pre-dated episode 1 racer. Rogue squadron was a super classic of mine. This news saddens me immensely... As someone who loves the more cannon parts of the extended universe in star wars, I seriously am afraid as to what 7 8 and 9 will be... If they go completely off on their own angle, I will actually be more disappointed than i was with the prequels (something I didn't think was possible)

It's pretty crazy that two years ago, I had an interview with lucasarts. Got to the final round and they decided to go with the guy that lived closer. Could have been me laid off with them...
