You should put your cock back in the pants. Theres far worse fuck-ups in Hollywood. How about Operation Valkyrie(2004 and 2008 edition), only difference literally was to replace the main character with Tom Cruise. It's the same fucking movie with Tom Cruise!


But I do agree. That handcuff trick was super copied lamest thing I have seen on a trailer(and I hate this dude actor, I think he has zero credibility if hes not playing a loser role). There goes saying that foreign films aren't appreciated because the action is lame and editing isn't up to the work. Well I just watched a film that got really good American version called The Departed(Hongkong version called Infernal Affairs). While this movie is really good, but seeing the original it makes all the difference(I like The Departed better...). Not once in that movie was there some dumbing down moment when you as a viewer had to be explained what was happening. It's respecting the viewers intelligence and letting you to understand what is going on.


Oh yeah and I think The Prestige is top 10 best films.

Here is the thing:

Hollywood can make damn good movies. They make terrible trailers however.

Terrible events are unfolding that will shake the <Place> to its roots. Only one <BLANK> can save it, and <BLANK> is gone. Now <BLANK> must go through his biggest challenge and lay down <BLANK> life in order to save <place>. (EPIC MUSIC PLAYS!)

Think about all the movies that fit that. For all we know this could be the greatest movie of 2013, and the trailer makes it look like a generic thriller. FFS, look at the cast. We have Michael Cane as a fracking villain! This movie could be a great film, and this dubstep and inception noises make it look like a steaming pile of Origin (my new word for shit).


And yeah, Hollywood has bigger fuck-ups.

Whats worse is when 2 similar movies are released around the same time:


Deep Impact + Armageddon 1998 within 2 months of each other

Antz + A Bug's Life - also 1998 within 6 weeks...

The Truman Show + Ed TV within 10 months...

Saving Private Ryan + The Thin Red Line within 6 months...

Mission to Mars + The Red Planet (10 months?)...

Tombstone + Wyatt Earp like 6 months....


What does someone get a whiff that a movie is being worked on and they go find a competing script and try to do it better?? What ever the reason - it pisses me off but I don't know why.

The people who make the movies =/= the people who make the trailers.

The people who make the trailers are junior artists to gain experience. There is no creative medium here as they are purely directed by one or two seniors from each department department.

One lighting director, one visual director and one compositing director.

You can see that even better on TV series. Good cop show? Better shovel every shit you can imagine that has cop in it. Or reality, worked on Police reality but make a reality show about cap driver? Seriously?

It's like a bubble. First one makes good money the rest just fights for survival.

If you guys really want your minds blown, watch the movie Doc Hollywood and compare it to the Pixar movie Cars. It's such a blatant ripoff that I'm surprised no lawsuit or settlement hit the news. Everything, everything, is the fucking same.
