Once again, I'll point out that it's really subjective. Game engines, like the one that we're making Avast with, convert all models to triangles during the import process anyway, so having them in your model is not problematic in this case provided you can get it to look how you want it to. The problem with triangles is that they don't animate or smooth over well in the way that quads do. That makes them a potential problem for animation within a 3D program. If it's at all possible, you should model everything out of quads, since you can triangulate them at any time. It's like how we were all forced to memorize multiplication tables when we were kids even though there were calculators. If you can master doing something the hard way, it's all downhill from there and nasty surprises won't sneak up on you.

^ Agree.

You should have both since Quads can triangluate and are shit ton easier to edit later on. But when you're finalized, Triangles can get you the lower polys.

I, however, still hate Triangles and refuse to convert. Final Gather and Mental Ray hate always fuck that shit up.
