been over that bridge a lot... its not far from the u of m & the bridge in all the pics next to it i believe is where most ppl walk from east bank to west bank

tbh im REALLY surprised the death count isnt triple what it is... guess it speaks to people actually pulling their heads out now & then & helping others out

traffic in minnepolis is now pretty thoroughly hardfucked until they can rebuild that thing (which will be after investigations, clean up, memorials, whiners, etc) good thing i rarely need to cross the river (st paul is bad anyway)

You hear us Minnesotans complain about road construction alot. That's because the state is constantly working on its roads and bridges. Our transportation system is known around the country for being outstanding. If this can happen here, just think what else can go wrong nationwide.

Sadly, people don't really think about things until other people get hurt or things break that really shouldn't.

Think of how many railroad stations are around the US that haven't had maintenance in forty years. There's gotta be a lot broken. As a result, I never stop on railroads and I always go slow there and look both ways.

There was a bad accident where my mom lives where a car had got hit but then had crossed the median and the guy ended getting killed. Then the next day they put up median breakers...

that unfortunately is all too true.

in less than a month, i have lost 4 fellow marines i knew, all back here state side.......one of them was a master guns that i liked a lot.......use to bs with him all the time........also had one of the best cruisers on base..........it was on that bike that he was hit head on by some fucktard from italy driving a full sized diesel pick up, wile drunk, and high on perkeset...........if i ever meet that mother fucker i will probably go to jail..........

as for the bridge itself, if i remember correctly, the only reason the casualty count was so low was that they where doing maintenance on it at the time, and only had 2 lanes open........1 each way..........i have a feeling that the maintenance is some how involved with the failure of the bridge though......

i can tell you though, out in the real world, if there is no one looking over your shoulder, some people tend to get lazy.......and not do there job as they where suppose to..........things that you would not be able to tell at a glance if it had been done or not........such as inspect a bridge for metal fatigue, undermining, excessive corrosion and the like........
