What if Apple made a gaming system? I mean they've made the iPod, iTV, the iPhone... what's next? Seems like they're going for the entertainment... so the only thing I can see is the gaming portion. I mean Microsoft has done it.

How kickass would it be if Apple made a system? Do you think they'd dominate the market vs Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo? Just the thought... wow. Just freakin wow.

Apple fails at hardware, so, I would guess they'd fail at making a competitive gaming console.

The console market is already crowded as it is. If Apple made a gaming system as powerful as the PS3, as innovative as the Wii, and as much of a bargain as the 360, they would have limited success at best.

Hell, I'd buy their system if they made it. PS3's being a jackass and put way too much in their system.

Btw, I realized something today about the 360. How shitty of a name is this? Take an xbox and rotate it 360 degrees. You're in the same spot right? So wouldn't it be the same thing? Why not a 180?

But I didn't really mean for this system to be a part of this generation, just the next.

A 180 would mean Microsoft admitting that the original Xbox was completely wrong so they're kinda fucked whatever direction they go.

Hows it ironic? They've only recently switched to Intel chips with the PCs they sell, and even when they did, they're still grossly overpriced, just like every other Apple product. Why pay more for the same?

I'm a pretty big fan of Apple, but I don't know if the console market would work for them. For one thing, only one company is making a profit at this point: Nintendo. Sony and Microsoft are just betting on making profit later off of licensing and first party games (which Apple has no history of developing). What Apple does best in consumer products is smart, functional interface. Usability isn't something at the top of my list for a console (game controls being more in the domain of the developers). I don't see them putting up the money on something that doesn't really play into their hand like that.

Perhaps you are right though. Apple may not be the best for designing a console, but ya gotta admit that the GUI system would be awesome.

I wasn't talking about the software. Razz

I like the fact that all Apple OS's use a shell similar to UNIX, and that they aren't as RAM whorish as Microsoft's solution.

Anyways, I don't think they could fit in a console to compete with all the others. They probably wouldn't stand up to the PS3/360 in terms of hardware, and I don't think that developers would develop for their system without A LOT of money.

And again, I don't mean this to be for this generation and not the next.

Anyways, I remembered what Steve Jobs said. He's looking for new things. He figures that if his company is diversified, then if one product goes bad, then there's nothing to worry about. He may try to go for gaming, I dunno. But I know he likes to try to make other people's lives easier. The funniest part about it all is that he's the lowest paid person in the entire company. He gets paid $1 a year. Smile
