It's alot less hassle by just getting one that is especially for your service:) |
or just getting one that is unlocked, most phones on e-bay are, but it will say somewhere on the bid. You do need uber hax to unloack it, or great googling skills along with great luck. However most of the time if you need to unlock it, you will spend money. _________________ Submit to Milky Way

all right, last weekend i bought a magazine on laptops to see what ells was available, and to my surprise there was a brief article in it about cellular modems, and using you phone for internet. it seems that tec has improved a bit. the article said that depending on the provider, and the phone, you can plug a comp into the phone via usb, and get around 600-700 kbps and bursts of 1mb or more, and they are getting faster.
looks like if i get the hook up, i may be able to kill 2 birds with one stone here. and best of all, for most phones and phone companies, you can get an unlimited plan (for internet) for only around $40-$50 a month. this + about $150 a month for a new comp and i will be set. (going to pay a LOT more each month than i have to to pay as much off before interest adds up too much).
now i just have to wait for that package from navy fed (delivered through my parents) that was (over nighted) last Monday. lol
after i get that un fucked, and transfer my deposit and current funds from FSNB to that account, i will set up pay pall and be in business. and yes, my donation to CT pirate serv3er funds will be included in that)
things are looking good. might even be able to be back on line with a comp of my own within 2 weeks or so.
after 3 months here, i should also be transferred back to the east side in camp lejune where i should have a 2 to 3 man room instead of a squad bay. it will most likely have some type of high speed internet aswell. and the fact that it is not a squad bay means that i will have a lot more liberty in what i can have. ie a desktop it is then that i will upgrade my cpu and graphics, (selling my old cpu to wang) and be back pirating semi full time _________________ YAT YAS

Just some advice from CaptJack, be careful because you may need certai phones to use that type of data plan, and make sure you know what you are spending on because it usually requires a voice plan added on which can get prety pricy, but other than that right on man:) _________________

I wouldn't try playing with it, there might be huge lag spikes. _________________

Skeptical of the battery life, but it actually looks kind of cute. _________________ is now -=|CT|=- Frothy Mixture

The same thing I think of all Apple products.
Anyway they're trying to cram too much into one device. The more components something has, the higher its failure rate. Plus as Wang said it'll drain the battery. _________________

I'd be more excited if it wasn't tied into AT&T or any big cell phone company for that matter. I can't stand the idea of service contracts and all the other crap they all do to make sure they don't have to charge reasonable prices to get people to stick with their service. Having real high speed internet in your pocket that worked would be pretty awesome, but I'm not sure this is it... yet.

That too. The cell contract my parents got me, despite me trying to be grateful about it, is a piece of shit. When it expires next Christmas, i need to look into the best contract available with more text messaging.
Seriously. Right now I've got a little Nextel phone. It has a camera. It does everything I need it to and it's really simple. Despite it getting old, beaten up, and not being as attractive as a Razr, I like it a lot. The only problem aside from it randomly powering off in my pocket is the fucking contract. _________________ is now -=|CT|=- Frothy Mixture

I was reading that the battery life is quite more than expected, but I guess we'll have to see when the public gets their hands on one.
Me personally, I don't have the money for a 500 dollar phone WITH a contract. Way too much money even though it does alot of cool things! _________________

I don't understand the hype about iPhone. There's nothing new in it. _________________
