The 18-year-old son of Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy turned up dead at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in his apartment in a suburb of Tampa, Fla.

His body was found by a roommate in an apartment at the Campus Lodge apartments in Lutz, the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office said. A news release on the Sheriffs Office Web site stated it "responded to the Campus Lodge Apartments this morning at approximately 1:32 a.m. The girlfriend of James Dungy had returned to the apartment and discovered Dungy."

Police performed CPR on Dungy before he was taken to University Community Hospital in Tampa, where medical staff declared him dead. A spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office confirmed the news later in the day, saying an investigation into the matter was underway.

A ruling on the younger Dungy�s case of death is expected from the county medical examiner's office or the hospital at which James Dungy was pronounced dead, the spokeswoman said.

Coach Tony Dungy left the Colts to go to Tampa. The Colts, meanwhile, are scheduled to play at Seattle on Saturday.

The coach and his wife, Lauren, have four other children: daughters Tiara and Jade and sons Eric and Jordan. Fans posted prayers and messages of support for Dungy, who also coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on a message board on a Colts fan Web site.

"Not only was he a great football coach for the Bucs, but he is an even better person," one Tampa Bay fan wrote. "It makes me sick that it happened at this time of year to a person that is so giving and caring."

Another person wrote for God to give strength to Dungy during this difficult time.

"When things like this happen it adjusts our perspective on life," one person wrote. "What was considered major yesterday doesn't amount to more than a footnote today."

Whao, thats pretty insane. i was gonna post about this cuz I really feel for him being the same age and going to college, but if this kid killed himself he gets none of my pity.
I do feel for the family though, and it really fucking pathetic that the kid would do that to them, especially this time of year, and with the colts needing their coach. Just stupid.....

omg... that would suck...

I remember getting my teeth pulled. I had to get 6 of them removed and when it was over... the feeling I had was just nearly unbearable. I was tired, freezing my ass off so I was shivering violently (it was cold inside the room), I was in pain, coughing blood out of my mouth... but add all of that together and then die...
