I know many of you never got into FarCry but I suspect those that have thought it pwned. I thought it would be the BEST game to mod for Pirates - in a perfect world. Wink

Anyway 'Crysis" is coming (FarCry 2)... I am looking forward to this game more than I awaited HL2. Here is a review:

If anyone finds other good reviews please post. There are some sweet technology demo movies out there too. If you understand lighting and effects you will understand how cool this shit is...

the crytek engine is one of the most impressive ive seen in a long time, but i heard the mod tools arent as good as BF or HL2

i wonder if this is gonna be a new engine, or just an upgrade to the existing one... far cry is still quite impressive, i hope they dont totally scrap the engine

I love the way everything will blow up (trees/buildings/runneded over bushes) put persist persist in game as wreckage. Thats the important part! Very Happy

Holy shit man the RAM chips though... Between these graphics and a wholly interactive world remebering blown up stuff it is going to require a potent machine.

It is currently scheduled for release for 4th quarter 2006. Guess that means I'll be getting myself a new PC for Xmas. Cool

I had looked at the FarCry mod tools - and forums. Not many people involved in modding or much for depth of support either. Their AI stuff seemed really sweet though - good for coop/single player I guess...

I know they overhauled their engine when porting content to XBox. FarCry:Instincts (FarCry for XBox) was a changed game and accompanied an engine mod as well. I imagine they will be working up from the last Xbox version. Becasue of these changes and lackluster reception from mod community to FarCry I doubt their mod tools/support will be much better this time. I am pretty much convinced that Unreal is the way to go for mod support but I am pulling for spiffy Crysis support too...
