I dont remember how I did it... but the words on my icons are white and the background of those words... are black. I wish to make the background of that see-through and I'm on a Window XP. Simple, yet I can't seem to find where to do that. I'd figured it'd be in the displays, but that just lets me change of color of it.

Right Click "My Computer" > Properties > Advanced tab > Performance section, settings button > Look under visual effects. If nothing seems to ring a bell or relate to that, then enable all of them I suppose.

or try:
right-click on the desktop
- Properties menu item
- Appearance tab
- Advanced button

There should be Icon settings in the drop down - font, size, color, etc.
