Basically, I don't know if it'll even run a Windows Server. It's using Cent OS, so i'd have to upload Windows on it, Secondly, it's a bit of an old computer, so it might not even be able to make it run smoothly, therefore, lag. Besides, I can't answer the question till I actually go to my dad's house and find out... So i'm stuck here like yall all sad cuz I can't know Sad

WTF kind of server, worth $35000, would become obsolete within years? Seriously, if it was worth THAT MUCH then, it has to have some kickass hardware in it ... surely enough to run a simple game server.

But the question here isn't computer specs. Fuck, if it was down to that, I'd have a half-assed server in a heartbeat. Keep in mind that if you run a server it isn't gonna need to process GFX.

The real issue is connection speed and bandwidth. If you have that, you're all right. In specific, it's the UPLOAD speed/bandwidth of the server that really matters - and most home connections have low upload speed/bw. That's why i edited boomboom's post with the caustic remark ... "and possibly a T3 connection?" or whatever I said. A T3 connection is a high speed connection used in businesses. Bitch.

One last note for Stealth - linux is commonly used for gaming servers.

That was the bad news.

The good news is that he's thinking about opening up an internet gaming cafe'. If so, we could easily run it there. But... don't get too excited just yet. He's still sorting out his ideas.

He can consult in printing or open a gaming cafe'.

great news guys... and some bad, but still good

Dad lost his job.

Now that's bad... BUT, he can now open that store which he's REALLY thinking about doing. He's been trying to contact Play Cafe', an internet gaming cafe' in Chattanooga, to start up a franchise with them. Joel knows which place I'm talking about for sure, cuz I used to take him there.

He's thinking about a 3 part area.

1. The Gaming Area - full of internet played games and such like that. This also includes the xbox rooms and ps2 rooms.

2. The Business Section - This consists of a place of high speed internet for guys to do work easily and quickly, being able to print in high quality materials. This consists of Macs AND PCs.

3. The Bar - Food items consisted of Homemade Bread, Cokes (pop for you northerners...), Coffee and the like.

4. The "Bomb" rooms (optional and not decided yet) - He would build these rooms to be made of surround sound. Massive leather couches and a HUGE Plasma Screen Televison Set mounted on the wall. The name "Bomb" room, for those who couldn't think too well to know, would be named that due to the massive bass sounds the rooms would produce.

Of course, Tinted Windows, Neon Lights, Dark Roomed Areas, Suped Up Computers (constantly updated), and with me getting the new patched to mods. He would get a T4 Connection, which is the fastest connection possible for those who do not know (MUCH faster than Comcast and the like) and we would get that server we have up and running on that connection.

He's actually thinking about it and even talked to his friends to get them to help him out. My friends and I would be able to play for free too! w00t!
