Static ip vs dynamic?

Comon you all. What's the difference?

I have some serious dick internet problems where I have hard time keeping me online for more than 1 hour without disconnecting. Needless to say this makes playing online really hard.

So I have thought maybe my router tries to switch the ip so often at times, that it makes the whole shit going full ape and goes on disconnects/reconnects frenzy.

But there must be some reason why it's set dynamic instead of static, even if static is more stable. Are there some risks when running everyting from static ip, like secure risks ect?

It also might be the problem on my provider end, which would make sense, because every fall/spring I have these problems, Winter/summer works flawlessly. Might have something to do with water(rains a lot in fall, snow melts in spring). But seems like trying out and learning how to set ip to static could be a worthy try.

To be honest I ran a static IP for years and never had an issue.
