Hardcore

I've recently been trying to see how far I can go in hardcore Minecraft. In hardcore, if you die, that server is deleted, it's automatically on Hard, and you can't use /give or any of those commands.

I've been measuring my success by what kind of metal/materials I can get and how much I get.

I'm on hardcore world 4 and the best I've done was in my 3rd world, I got 4 pieces of diamond and had just made a diamond pickaxe when I got blown apart by 2 creepers that spawned in my fully lit house. I make sure that all my worlds start in a random place and I just try and survive.

If you're in to that sort of thing, I suggest you give it a shot and see how well you do.

Also, on MP it bans from the server when you die. Fun stuff.

I strictly play hardcore in SSP... I like starting fresh (though I play very safely, and it's basically impossible to die to anything except falls/lava once you get iron armor, so I tend to end up quitting the worlds before dying). But the really nice part is that you can do dangerous shit like bridging over lava while carrying diamonds and such and not feel like a fool, since if you die it's gone whether you stash it or not.

I think the SMP deathban thing is a mod, not the builtin hardcore mode.
