I treat the balloon as any other vehicle. It was never meant to be a one man death ship.
Forbidding changing vehicle positions alone, would have been enough (but this was done with *all* vehicles), but the armor was still way too high, making the balloon busters useless.
Then that would just leave the fire rate, which was kept at the same speed as any other falconet in the game.

Largely when two Galleons would fight to the death, *usually* only one came out victorious. As a result, the ship would sink and there would be stragglers out in the water.
As a straggler, you would have to point your body face down and swim, hoping that you wouldn't be spotted.
In the alpha, you didn't die from attrition from being in the water too long. But later on, it was added because people would kill the ship and leave you there as you swam for 30 minutes to shore.
Additionally, barrels were added to the back of the Galleon so that passengers can take ships to shore. They also spawned when the ship died to help swimmers.

Up to the .2 release, you only had essentially two classes.
The first would contain a Musket with 3 bullets and 99 clips. This would be unlimited ammo.
A pistol with 3 bullets and 99 clips.
3 German grenades
And one cutlass.
Most people would choose the medic class as it also contained the medic pack. Due to the long nature of the fights, this was removed in .3, but it took a very long time.

Most of CT's matches, or any match rather, was played on CTC (Cut Throat Creek). It was a near perfectly balanced map that worked great for Capture the Flag.
It was played so often though, that many members wished to play other maps.
So Shiver Me Timbers was usually another choice. A few matches were also played on Frylar due to it's chaotic nature and hard to maintain control style of gameplay. _________________ Motherfucking Triangles! Being all three sided n' shit, who do they think they are?!

CT had a special clan tag for CS:S called [HAXXX] and we all had animal names, I was [HAXXX] Tanooki!.

There was a post apocalypse mod for battlefield 1942 called wasteland 2024, there was only one clan that I know of that was specific to that mod they were called wlw and they ended up spliting a few of them joined some of the pirate clans;Savage went to BB, Blunugz & Sully came to CT, and wooze was in SC.

There was only a few players I truly feared facing they were z28eb because he was one of the best melee players, G_Gunner because he was the best all around raider, and nugget and brutus being the best carpenters.

Early on in the mod it was easy to snipe people who were driving the ships with cannons or a musket. This often made sailing a ship suicide to prevent this in future versions they added a giant wall protecting the captain. Another problem of early ship combat was that one player from the enemy team could easly take over a ship by teleporting to diffrent positions by pressing 1-5 making it impossible to regain control of the ship; this was fixed in version 1.0 by having you walk into the position you wanted to be in.

One point in history we had several diffrent pirate projects planned and even opened had our own studio it branched from several diffrent pirate clans. The planned projects included a pirate rts, 16 bit rpg, and a naval sim. None of the projects ever got past an alpha state for several reasons.

Crunch was always about Sodomy
Anonymousity was the multi-billionaire.
This would go on for most of CT's most active.
What will your label be?

Man I miss Threepwood I talked to Sully not long ago on Facebook, he's getting a Masters in CS from Carnegie-Mellon. He used to host the SC server and site I think, and also did something for us when he switched over here? He gave me some webspace as well.
