"The combatants respect each other as warriors, no matter what degree of hatred they have for one another...a code of honor."
~Mortal Kombat, Sega Genesis version

---

As many of you know, I play huntsman. Draco plays rifle. I had to create an entirely new tactic to fight him, because riflemen destroy me.

I spot him and immediately hide.
I wait until a friend runs in front of me, or preferably, pops out in his sight from another location, drawing his sight.
I peek out and release an arrow at him.

---

I don't play spy much, but against docs once I ran into him, both as disguised spies. He stabbed me. I threw up a dead ringer corpse. I waited until he was stalking someone else and stabbed him.

---

Both of these players said I violated the "sniper code" and "spy code". I had no idea these things existed. Apparently snipers try to become aware of each other then play a quick game of reflexes, rather than rely on cheap tricks and sneaky shots. Apparently spies drop their dead ringers and have a revolver shoot-out or knife fight to the death, with no fake corpses.

Is this a common thing? I don't claim rifleman or spy as regular classes, so I have no idea how Egypt regulars treat their classes and any mini-games they might invent. I just try to cap or defend.

I'm certainly not insulting them, I just had no idea I was violating any codes. To me, this sounds as bizarre as "while I'm playing heavy and I come across another heavy, we both have to spin around in 360 clockwise circles holding down the fire button until one of us dies."

^That explains all the heavies acting odd then.

I wasn't aware of any honor code though, even then I prolly wouldn't honor it. My philosophy is destroy your enemy and move on to the next one, if you have to use tricks then do so. Sound like a bunch of sore losers to me Razz

Mine was you kept picking me off while I was dueling another spy (I believe it was 1/8 ) in areas where there weren't other players. If I was just running around a point stabbing your teammates of course you can go for me. I was only aggitated because I wanted to duel the other spy but you never let me Crying or Very sad

"Cheap tricks" and "sneaky shots" are just alternate phrases for "playing smarter than the other guy." And "honor code" is code-language for "crutch." Very Happy
