When I got back from the army in January, my graphics card started slowly dying on me. Artefacts on screen when playing games, then later when watching videos and in the end I couldn't get rid of them. But then I got some crazy advice to bake my GPU in an oven. Believe it or not, it worked. My PC has been going strong for over a month now.

Just thought I'd share this with you Razz

There was probably a hairline crack somewhere or shitty solder joint. Baking would soften those up and apparently enough to make the problem area more solid. Nice!

Yes, the problem is basically the same as with RRoDing 360's. My case has horrible cooling, and over the hundreds, if not thousands, of times I've played games, the GPU has heated up and cooled down again - and the solder joints have suffered. 9 minutes in 200 Celcius and it's all fine again, but I have no idea for how long. Still better than no GPU at all.

The 8800 GTS 640Mb is an incredible card. I've had it for four years and it still plays most games on high settings.
