driver irql less then equal? what the fuck?

So I tried to install a file and the moment I started the exe, the machine went into a perpetual cycle of blue screens. I can't reach the main start up or even the regular safe mode startup. I can get into safe mode with networking for a little bit before it blue screens too and gives me the

DRIVER_IRQL_LESS_THEN_EQUAL

It hasn't let me do a system restore yet, so I'll keep trying but has anyone encountered anything like this?

You didn't mention that that is the specific problem you've been having. That's the problem I was getting when my previous motherboard was faulty. You remember the one. Basically, Windows was searching for files that weren't there simply because that Asus piece of crap wasn't working properly and tranferring data. This resulted in me getting a new PC. The weird thing is that it didn't start crashing constantly unless I was in a game of some kind first. What was the first thing that prompted this kind of crash? Did you also get random black screens where sound would repeat quickly like an application locking up?
