Went to the midnight showing last night and it made for a good time.

PROS

The movie tosses lots of little nostalgic bits and pieces out there for the audience to get a kick out of, but it remained serious throughout, which made it a worthy addition to the series. There wasn't any of that Rise of the Machines self-parodying humor that could have potentially detracted from the experience. It's tailor made for fans as it should be. Someone mentioned to me that it was like a really good episode of The Sarah Connor Chronicles and he was pretty much right (in a good way).

CONS

The trailers are actually a bit misleading, which is both good and disappointing in some ways. This movie may have alot of action in it, but its more of a new beginning and you won't see as much resolved in it as you'd like. The plot seems a bit misdirected at times. The resistance is on a campaign to destroy Skynet, but you won't get any sort of Fellowship of the Ring game plan to follow. The battles are episodic and don't seem to contribute to the whole. John Connor is like James Bond in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace in that he's not yet the leader he's destined to become, but he's working on it. That's part of the plot, but I know some people are a bit more impatient to see him become the badass robot destroyer of legend.

BOTTOM LINE

While Salvation can't compare with Judgement Day, it does come across as a worthwhile sequel that offers a few ideas of its own that fans will most likely meet with enthusiasm.

Way worse than I expected honestly. Lots of things just didn't make sense. The dialogue seemed WAY to rushed, as if they had planned a 3 hour movie with lots of dialogue, but cut it down to 2 hours. Christian bale, as much as I enjoy his other films, wasn't right for this.
