I saw the commercials for this a few weeks ago w/ my dad and he could not stop ROFLing.

He pointed out that Clint Eastwood is so old, they could easily overpower him and kick his ass. He's trying way too hard to be a tough guy. He also pointed out the Gran Torino is a shitty car and it's not really that special.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Haven't seen it, but I regard it as Dirty Harry when he retires. Err, thats a movie called Blood Work. This can be #2 in the "Dirty Harry gets institutionalized" trilogy.

I read an article about the movie and the car is the centerpiece to the psychology of it. Gran Torinos were large, bulky, gaudy cars that come from the biggest period of excess in automaking. The car represents the "good times" of when the average American was free to throw money at foolish things and not worry about the outside world changing around them. That's why it's perfect for such an ignorant shut-in like the one played by Eastwood. I still plan on seeing the film soon. Ol' Squinty always delivers.

Hey they might be able to push him around, but that fucker always has a gun hidden somewhere. Gun trumps youth any day.

Plus Eastwood can do no wrong, the man with no name trilogy and subsequent westerns cemented him in history.

I love old school spaghetti westerns, I'm a fanatic.

The Wrestler > Gran Torino

Mickey > Clint

Don't recall anyone asking you, because it was fucking great!

Clint uses nearly ever racial slur Laughin Pirate that I can think of, is bad ass even at 100 something, and takes care of business. You really should see it.

My 22, 19, and 17 year olds loved it. 2 saw it twice.

I've got it and just about everything else. Great film, I love the intro part with Elam and the fly.

It's funny that Sprite mentions The Wrestler, another one I want to see. What's with all the artsy films this past year? They actually look really good. Hell, even The Dark Knight was considered an artistic masterpiece by critics.

I just got back from the movie. It was definitely worth the price of admission.

Just saw it on DVD. It was actually incredibly moving for me. Minus most of the violent racism, the badass of clint eastwood reminded me a lot of my grandfather. I suppose that made it even more rewarding and sad.

I found out recently that it will be Clint Eastwood's final acting role. I thought it was a nice farewell picture.
