Do you nap? If so, how often and how much? Do you get regular sleep?

I'm a guy that has atrocious sleep patterns (wake up, stay up as long as possible, go to sleep 20 hours later, repeat :/). Some people I know survive on <6hr nightly sleep by taking a short nap almost every day. My dad always takes a nap between 4:00 and 6:00.

I really should make an effort out of napping, but I just don't have the ability to fall asleep on command which really, really sucks.

I sometimes fall asleep on the couch while reading for exams. Does that count as a nap?

I nap maybe once a month. If that counts... No, would probably be the best answer. But I certainly would if things worked out better. Very Happy

My sleeping pattern sucks bawls. When it's daylight, I'm tired, when it's night, I'm wide awake. So going to sleep at night is hard for me. But I have one other problem, once I go to sleep, it's really hard for me to get up. Especially if I have to do it voluntarily. Like if it's the weekend and I don't have classes, I just can't get up at 9. No fucking way.

I'll end up sleeping until 1 or 2 and then it throws my next week off. It's a reoccurring process. By Friday, I've gotten everything straightened out usually and then I mess it up again. But I do try to nap.

Typically around 1-3 during weekdays and I keep it to a max of two hours. But then I get the whole waking up voluntarily thing I stated above.

I think I have hypersomnia or something, which is classified as sleeping over 10 hours a day.

Naps screw my sleeping pattern up even more so I try my best to not take them.

I have no sleeping pattern, one day I go to work at 5am, the next I work until 1 am. I work random days at random times every week. I probably average about 6 hrs a night, sometimes getting way less, sometimes sleeping in.

I took naps as a college freshman, but stopped after as a sophomore. Naps always leave me more tired than I was before, so I don't take them now.

I do have the ability to fall asleep anywhere at any time however, if I close my eyes for over 5 minutes, I'm going to be asleep.

My schedule's really screwy. I usually end up going to sleep at 4am even if I have to be up at 8....and then the next is variable, sometimes I'm tired and sleep earlier when I'm planning on getting up later, sometimes I just ignore it. I feel best when I go to bed way early and get up early but I have to force myself to do so -- If not for clocks and other people I'd prolly end up going to bed after sunrise and getting up after (winter) sunset.

I sometimes nap but usually it's not planned. I just lay down for a bit and end up not deciding to get up 'til three hours later. Sometimes they feel great, sometimes I get a pounding headache, and other times I just feel sluggish afterward.

Back in high school I regularly napped since I was getting up at 6am. I'd get home around 3:30pm and launch my afternoon routine which ended with a big meal (I never ate breakfast or a standard-time lunch) and a hot shower....so I'd be asleep around 5pm and usually wake up at 8-9. Occasionally I tried sleeping at 10pm though, once I even did it Sunday-Thursday; was one of the best weeks I've ever had.

At 6hrs of sleep I feel fine but am tired before the end of the day, and can't recover from lost sleep in earlier days. 7hours and I feel like complete crap; I think that must have me waking up at a bad point in my sleep cycle. 7.5-8.5 hours and I feel great.

I used to do that too j00saf. I'd typically come home from high school, take a nap and then get on later in the day to pwn in some bfp.

Part of the reason I don't touch alcohol socially is that I don't want any tolerance at all for the stuff. I keep a bottle of 100 proof rum laying around for when insomnia really sets in. I once worked a weekend on a half hour of sleep and vowed that I would never let it happen again.

My biggest problem with naps right there. My daily schedule isnt really a schedule at all. Besides school, theres really no regular pattern to my day-to-day activities. I guess I have a hard time getting into routines. Usually I sleep a fair amount. Last night I slept 6 hours, but was half asleep in my morning class.

I had wanted to nap today, but it just didnt fit into what i wanted to get done and what I needed to do. Sometimes when I nap, like Casey, I feel great afterwards, but other times I feel sluggish for an hour or two, or I get a bad headache. This probably has to do with having such a weird sleep schedule, but its still retarded.

I think the best nap I ever had was on the bus to the train station with my girlfriend on her way home, I fell asleep with my head on her shoulder for about 10 minutes, and I reached the nap nirvana. I was so recovered and recharged after that.

The link you posted mike, I tried applying that to days last semester when i'd have a few hours between classes, so I'd find a couch and try to power nap. Never worked.

!doublepost

Tied a 45 minute nap yesterday. Exactly 45 minutes, instead of my usual "fall asleep until you can't sleep any longer" naps. No pounding headache, and I felt pretty refreshed. I was a bit groggy for a little while, but it wasn't too bad, and I had more energy later on.

I tried taking an hour long nap. That nap turned into 2 hours. It was nice.

Usually the naps I take are the "getting home from work and falling over" kind, so I don't really set an amount of time.
