I'm a pretty avid reader, I've got three bookcases in my room that are all pretty packed. i haven't read all the books on them because I'm constantly buying new ones, but I will someday hopefully.
So i wanted to see how many people here read on a regular basis. That means every night, or when you got a few minutes to spare to read a novel or newsweek or something.
If so, what are you reading currently, or what was the last thing you read?
I Just finished Speaker of the Dead by orson Scott Card, which is the second in the Ender series. I started Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane, the dude who wrote mystic river, but school is starting so time is in smaller quantities. _________________ -=|CT|=-Special Jimmy

fucking Birds of Prey by Wilbur Smith, epic pirate story galore. Definitely on the ridiculous side, a kid of 18 years old dominates the lives of countless grown men with his adolescent swashbuckling prowess. Features falconets, also.
A strange thing about this book - it has alot of SEX. Descriptive, intense sex too - pirate word porn sometimes, basically. _________________

I don't read voluntarily or assigned reading. Typically if it's assigned, I'll skim through it or use spark notes if possible.
I think I've been around technology too long, I tend to fall asleep when I try to read voluntarily. Even tried various famous books that were said to be kickass like Harry Potter, The Da Vinci Code, etc. _________________ Motherfucking Triangles! I'm subscribed to Foreign Affairs, The Economist and a Finnish gaming mag. That's most of the reading I get done. I pick up a couple books every summer though. _________________

Well I like to read a lot, but don't do it as often as I can. Therefore, I am not currently reading anything.
Last thing I read was Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Next time I decide to actually sit down and start on a novel it's going to be The Three Musketeers; it's by the same guy as my favorite, The Count of Monte Cristo. _________________

Last books I read were the da vinci code and winter war.
Good books while winter war was more of documentary of the war, it was still nice to read some outsiders thoughts of the war. _________________

I'm in between books at the moment. Love all the mob books, last one I read was about the Irish Mob. I've read several on the Italian mob as well. I also like the True Crime genre. Helter Skelter about Manson was great. So was Under and Alone from an ATF agent that went undercover w/ a biker gang (he actually has 2 books out). Then there's the military books. I'm working my way through all the books by the guys from Band of Brothers. Nothing better on a long ass flight than a good book. _________________ -=|CT|=- K9 Carlos

To say I'm an avid reader is an understatement, I've been a book nerd for most of my life. I do not read nearly as much as I did in high school, where I was the accelarated reader champ at my school every year since 4th grade. College and work cut way back on all but required reading. My personal favorites are Larry McMurtry, Orson Scott Card as some of you have mentioned, George R.R. Martin, Stephen King(I've read almost everything he has put out), and Louis Lamour.
On the more serious side I have several bookcases full of nonfiction; mainly history, war, strategy and tactics, anthropology, archaeology and the like. If there is a book sale I am there, I can spend hours looking through books, especially cheap ones, my favorite is when libraries are selling out books for cash.
Right now I'm reading Walden by Thoreau. _________________
