Aight, i loaded BF42 all patches and Pirates to my Program Files (x86) folder. Everything looks right but BF won't start, even vanilla.

I know Nony said he was running it on V64 so i am more hopeful than when I started. Very Happy

I get nothing when I hit the start icon. From autorun splash screen on the CD, I press 'Play' and get nothing.

I have tried running it in XP compatibility mode and running it as administrator...

Ideas?

I uninstalled and installed to C:Program Files like it was in XP and the way the installers all expected. no love again...

I believe i tried all of the OS properties but i get nothing at all. A 3 second clock spin then nothin...

Am I a land-lubber ever more? Sad

Actually the "blocked from loading" could mean that something is wrong with the CD protection software on the computer, not the disk drive....but I imagine a no-cd crack would fix that anyway.

Yeah I was gonna say I don't think it's a problem with the disc drive at all, most likely Vista being cranky with the disc protection software.

I'd go with Daemon Tools + Mini Image, but noCD crack works.

I'm not sure I can be of any help beyond the stuff everyone else has recommended, but I'll throw in that I'm on Vista 64 and can get both vanilla BF1942 and Pirates to run without any special trickery. This leads me to believe that it is your optical drive or CD protection software, like USAF said.

Yeah, he got it to work with no-CD crack. I really would be surprised if it was the drive. No point in fucking with it now.

No it was the drive. I had the EXACT issue with Tribes 2 (or some other game). It was WAY back in December (2 weeks ago Razz) and I had just completely forgot.

its cool how you guys got me back on track so quick though. Gotta take care of us geezers...
