GTA IV for the PC

I made the mistake of buying it. It's a HUGE resource hog, I don't even think Rockstar bothered to optimize it when they ported the game over to the PC. I have a slightly outdated machine, but I could play Far Cry 2 on high settings fine. On the other hand, I play this game at 800x600 with the lowest settings and average 20-30 FPS.

Plus, they make you go through the most retarded copy protection I have ever seen in a game. You have to make two accounts and install two shitty programs PLUS activation just to play online.

I'm glad to hear it. I may have made the mistake of buying it. That seems to be more and more of a problem. I'm one of the many PC gamers who would have been eager to buy Mass Effect and Bioshock when they came out but was turned off by the copy protection hoops you needed to jump through to play. The same goes for Left 4 Dead. I won't buy any more games that require Steam to play. You don't really own a game on Steam, you just have supervised visitation rights.

Yeah, that is pretty lame with Steam, though at least Valve has their stuff together when they release a game.

At least with steam you get something in return for using the system (ability to download your games anywhere, game updates pushed to your machine so you don't have to wait, a consistent and integrated friends system). Everything I hear about secureROM and all the other DRM crap is all it gets you is limited installs and a big pain in your ass. I'd rather have visitation by valve's rules than some of the stuff EA has been trying to pull. With the way the publishers are looking at piracy, steam keeps looking more and more like the best hope we have lately. It's also two bad because I was really considering GTA IV for the PC since my only console is a wii.
