I'm going to get Ati Radeon HD 4870 and I know you don't need an awesome power supply to run the package with that card, but I'm planning to to upgrade it, somewhere in the future, to 2x radeons.

Question.

this has more Watts in it than this one, but the price range is same. What's the catch?

650W has one 12V rail and isn't modular, 520W has multiple 12V rails and is modular.

Watts = Volts x Amps

For example, for the 650W PSU under the Newegg specifications, it tells us that the +12V rail runs @ 52 amps. 52 amps x 12 volts = 624W.
If you multiply the same values for the 520W PSU you still end up with 624W being delivered on that rail.

The 650W PSU acts more like your average 700W-800W PSU in what it can power. Corsair uses high quality capacitors and makes very efficient PSUs.

Easy way to figure out if a power supply is a rip off is to look at how many Watts you're getting out of the 12V rails combined. In this case, they are the same. 12V rails are the most important in supplying power to fans, graphics cards, hard drives etc., so I would focus on those when buying PSUs.

Here is a good site for reviews:

Do you want an aftermarket cooler to push the speed on the 8500? You'll also need a dvd drive, but I assume you got that covered. The rest of it looks good. Makes me think about upgrading my Pentium D...

I don't need to overclock it at this time, so no extra coolers on my buying list at this moment. Dvd drive is on the list, but the meaning of it is minimium so I didn't include it on the list.

Buying quad-core is pointless at this point, because I can get cheaper and faster dual-core without having to do any overclocking.

I will buy the 1024mb card instead, because I'm going to buy new screen aswell, which has far higher resolution than I have now.

So I think I'm ready to go and drunk as usual. Only thing that worries me is the case, I really don't know what to get. I read that three hundred ultimate pc gamer case is good, but little noisy, atleast hard drives are sort of loud.

Just a last confirmation.

I'm going to buy another radeon in the future and I'm going to overclock my processor (and use this CPU fan). So is the Corsair 650W enough to run the package when the load is maxed.

From what I remember, the 620W modular version was able to run 2 x 8800GTX in SLi. I would compare the 12V amperage between the two power supplies.

According to ATI you just need a 600W PSU. BUT, the corsair only has 2 PCIe 6 pin connectors. Each 4870 requires two 6 pin connections. Now, the corsair would probably be fine if you used molex adaptors for the second connector on each card, but I'd personally go with something like the PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750 here

That way you get the necessary connectors and a little more headroom, which could help out if you're going to overvolt the CPU or add some drives or something.
