Run CPU-Z (http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-142.zip) to see the type of RAM your laptop uses. Try checking the Memory and SPD tabs, you should be able to see how many memory slots, speed and type your motherboard can support.

Thanks a lot!

Ok, now I'm in need of some advice!

On that program it says that my laptop's RAM is DDR2. It has single channels, two slots (One is occupied) and I have 512 of RAM.

What's the question? If the footprint and specs are the same you should just be able to swap them out.

If you have 2 slots and the 256 is one stick you might even be able to use both. There are some compatibility rules on some memory/mobo combos though.

Ok, the question is what RAM should I get for my laptop.

And on the program bewmius posted it says that my laptop has two slots for RAM. One is currently occupied with 512 mb of RAM and the other one is free.

I see. Laptops arent my gig.

I would just pull the RAM and take it to the store, then you can compare the size and how its keyed. Can't go wrong if you can compare the RAM sticks to each other.

Typically you take the keyboard off from the models I've seen.

I've raped a zillion laptops and never have I seen keyboard-access RAM.

It's always on the bottom of the laptop. There should be several hatches with a single (maybe 2) screws keeping them shut. There's usually one for the wireless adapter (if you have built-in wireless) and one for the RAM. Just pop them open, and if you've seen RAM before, you'll recognize it. Be careful. They're delicate little things. Be sure to ground yourself.

It's pretty easy.

Gateway M360, you must have not raped this one, because getting to the ram will take a day for disassembly of your laptop. But out of every laptop I have sold for the past 9 months at best buy has been bottom door access so it is rare to go through the keyboard. Just RAMlook at the icons on each door, you'll see one for RAM
