Anybody remember the name?

I can barely remember this very old show, It was the first thing I remembered watching on TV,
I hope you guys know the name if youve watched it because I have only fragments left and the title completely surpasses me

The Show is a cartoon about this guy who has a crystal which turns himself into this robot battle suit to fight against these aliens that have brainwashed his family and friends, and now fight against him. Later in the show his crystal breaks and he goes crazy for a few episodes but then his team creates this cyborg which when he enters turns him into the same battle suit robot, without using the crystal,

I vaguely remember an X or so in the title, but I have completely lost it,
And no, it aint Gundam Wing, It looks hella like it but its not.
I wish I could figure out what the name was so I can see those old episodes again on Youtube.
Any of you guys ever seen this show? or recognize anything?

Was it on Toonami or something? If it was, just type Toonami in wiki and i'll show you the list of their shows. Maybe that can help.
