So I have 3 hard drives all 120 GB 7200 Rpm.
I set up 1 for Vista and a Fat 32 partion
I set 2 up to run a Raid 0 array with vista.

I had XP installed first and then installed vista.. Everything worked fine.

Today I re-partitioned the XP disc uninstalled, re-installed drivers. XP would try to boot go to logo and restart. Vista gave me a cannot boot/read drive error.

I uninstalled xp and tried to re-install.. corrupt error when finished file loading and raid 0 drivers specified.

I then fixed vista with some kind of built in boot fix, and unplugged raid hard drives, vista works fine..

I now am going to re-try reinstalling XP again if that fails I plan on doing a low level format (on the 2 raid drives) using a 98 boot floppy and retrying but I'm not sure how vista will react.

My point is I may not be around if this does not work for god knows how long hopefully everthing will go smoothly. If anyone has any better suggestions please let me know.

That post made almost no sense. Are you trying to dual boot XP and vista? Why are you using FAT32? Why are you using a boot floppy?

the fat 32 need not really be mentioned, the floppy was something my roomate said to do, but didn't work. He said a low level format would wipe the corrupt data off and to use a win 98 boot floppy to run the low level format.

fact of the matter is, I still have 1 corrupt Hard drive, and XP will not install on it, suggestions, Ideas fixes? I need to wipe it.

Wipe it with the XP install disk? When you go to install, delete the old partition.

I'd pick up a linux live CD and use it for formatting and partitioning purposes.

I've decided it's a bad sector becaues I have re-partitioned it x 3, I'm just going to get 2 160's for 100$

I get the same error with the new drives, I guess it is a corrupt driver I downloaded.........

I'm not too happy right now, because when I installed thw new hard drives I did some cable bundling. While at that a re-plugger the power switch in the wrong mobo pins, when it didn't work I moved it to the right one. Now that won't work either. My computer works though I just have to use the manual mobo switch.

Ideas>

What motherboard do you have? I'm not exactly understanding what you mean by mobo switch/pins.

Eh, the jumpers for plugging the power switch into? How are you starting it now? Onboard switch, screw driver? What do you mean by cable bundling?

yeah the front panel plugs. Cable bundling as in moving cables out of the way & tying them to increase air flow and decrease clutter.

On board switch

Try plugging in just the Power On, without the sound, reset etc.

Finally got it to work, apparently I had the wrong drivers, GG on my part, but it's bullshit Nvidia was telling me I had the right ones...

anyways guess I needed new hard drive :/

Still need to work on the power switch, I have no idea why that would work bewm but I'll give it a shot when I get off work tomorrow.

It feels good to finally be able to get on the internet using XP again. I'll install all the rest of my drivers and hopefully pirates tomorrow. Possibly get a game going tomorrow night.
