Earlier this week, EA returned mostly dismal results for its all-important holiday quarter, posting a $641 million loss for the October-December period, increasing projected layoffs to 1,100, and drastically revising its full-year guidance downward. Even still, EA's stock has shot up more than $2 a share since the announcement, thanks in part to CEO John Riccitiello's efforts to assuage investors' fears by providing a glimpse of the publisher's strong 2009-2010 lineup.
One of those unannounced titles teased by Riccitiello was a sequel to EA DICE's well-received Battlefield: Bad Company. With the cat out of the bag, EA today officially announced Battlefield: Bad Company 2, saying it would arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this winter.
A direct sequel to last year's console-exclusive title, Bad Company 2 picks back up with the derelict B company, which comprises a fictitious US military's expendable misfits and outcasts. Destructible environments, which were a core component of the original, will again play front and center in Bad Company 2, thanks to further revisions to its proprietary Frostbite game engine. EA also promises a new special emphasis on vehicular combat.
Today's announcement wasn't without surprise, however. EA also revealed that DICE was at work on Battlefield 1943, a downloadable title coming to Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network, and PCs this summer. An online multiplayer-centric title, Battlefield 1943 features 24-player conflicts that play out both on land and in the air. Further, battles will rage across three locales: Wake Island, Guadalcanal, and Iwo Jima.
EA DICE remains at work on Battlefield Heroes, a free-to-play, heavily stylized online shooter that is expected to arrive for PCs before the end of March. EA is currently accepting beta test sign-ups through the game's official Web site.

I really don't think it's much to get hyped up over because:
1) 24 Players Only. That really isn't as big of a deal as most people think - game code is only half the story. More players, no matter how robust the netcode is, means more connections for the server(s) to handle. Also means more money sometimes
2) Notice that it's "Downloadable" for the PC.
I can't help but think this is just some kind of crap game. Anyone who expects the engine tobe overhauled on this one is probably really off the mark. Sorry. They are probably just making a WWII port of the BF2 engine. At least that's what I figure it to be.
Please tell me I'm wrong if I am. _________________ is now -=|CT|=- Frothy Mixture

Not expecting much out of it...I was a tester for BF Heroes at one point in time and it was somewhat fun to just screw around in but was by no means a game I'd play for more than a round or two a day just cause. BF1942 was and always will be the best, I know tons of guys hate BF2, but with the mods it is a bit above average I would say...the rest is meh. _________________

I don't think it look's that bad, but for 24 players you would think they could rank those graphics quite a bit higher. But 3 maps which all are remakes...wtf? This is something that Valve would release as a free update to their games. _________________

Yeah it honestly comes off as strange to me why they would do this, AND BF heroes. I thought they were only gonna make one half-a-BF game at a time
BF Heroes, BF Bad Company 2, BF 1943... why not just make one good one and call it BF3? :/ _________________
