Hmmm, I don't think that ram will be compatible with the mobo.
EDIT:
This should be fine, I don't think I'll be needing 2gb anyways:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231096
btw it says at the bottom of the specs on the mobo:
Newegg wrote: | Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets. |
Wouldn't that mean that 5-5-5-12 would also be supported? I'm a bit confused. _________________ -=|CT|=- Raed

Well everything seems compatible but I'm hazy on the RAM. Always have been. I've hard some hard times with it the most :/ _________________ Motherfucking Triangles! Being all three sided n' shit, who do they think they are?!

Exactly why I like to ask a lot of questions about RAM.
Would 2x512 sticks outperform a 1gb stick? I've heard the latter works best all-around, but I would like any input. _________________ -=|CT|=- Raed

Well if I remember correctly from what my dad told me, it depends. If you have two sticks that make up a gig, they don't have to work as hard as the 1 gb stick does. That would seem logical correct? The gig has to use up 100% of it's power to make up the one gig but the other two 512s only have to use 100% of it's 512 each. _________________ Motherfucking Triangles! Roger that, another update on the RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144020
1.8 volts and 5-5-5-15 timings, exactly what the mobo supports supposedly.
Also, I think I should get more fans, but I am not sure what circulates a good load of air and isn't overpriced.
And another thing, do all CPU's come with thermal paste? _________________ -=|CT|=- Raed

That made no sense to me at all
Here is what I think the purported theory is regarding memory division. Imagine each successive stick of memory as a trough of ice cubes next to one another. Obviously a 1024mb (1GB) stick / trough has 2x the volumetric water capacity that the 512mb stick / trough has.
The thing is, when you go to read memory, you search for data on the RAM based on it's address. Since the 1024mb stick has more data on it, there are more addresses. Imagine each ice cube as being labled with a certain number. If you go to find it in the 1024mb trough, you'll have to dig through more ice cubes to get to it than you would if you could quickly scan through the 512mb trough.
As I said, that appears to be the purported theory. I might not have the story exact, but the point is it has to do with that basic process. The reason I'm not sure if I believe this theory is because I'm pretty sure the read times are equal across the bus itself and not per slot. _________________ is now -=|CT|=- Frothy Mixture

Personally, I'm partial to the Asus brand, and their lifestyle series of motherboards have some really nice features. I'm not sure how many IDE devices you'll have hooked up (these boards only support two, but they do sell adaptors if you need to hook up another device, you just need to use a SATA slot instead)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131045
Has the most bells and whistles, plus the copper pipe technology to keep everything nice and cool without the noise of fans.

Relatively the same, just at a lower price and without some of the goodies _________________ You do not say that the wheel is fatigued, yet the body is as material as the wheel

That processor is best you can get for the price. I'd buy 2Gb ram and flat screen _________________

The abit seems to have the same, if not more than the one at the bottom, and the top one is a bit pricier and doesn't have that many features to interest me.
Thanks for the suggestions though, if I'm missing something please xfire me

I will save up for 2gb a bit later, and I don't really need a new monitor. _________________ -=|CT|=- Raed

Only a gig of ram (i can see where you're on a budget though)
Still decided on using RC1? _________________ You do not say that the wheel is fatigued, yet the body is as material as the wheel

Aye, passively cooled too (has a huge heatsink) so there is no loud fan and is still effective. _________________ -=|CT|=- Raed
