Boomboom's alright, but this school was fairly close to mine.

BAILEY, Colo., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- A four-hour hostage drama at a Colorado high school Wednesday ended with the gunman dead and a hostage critically injured, KMGH-TV, Denver reports.

The gunman, believed to be between the ages of 30 and 50, entered Platte Canyon High School near Bailey, Colo., around 11:40 a.m. and announced he had a bomb, KMGH-TV said.

He fired several shots in the building and took six people hostage as about 800 students were evacuated from the high school and the nearby Fitzsimmons Middle School.

Four of the hostages were let go as authorities conducted "sporadic" negotiations with the gunman throughout the afternoon.

He was holed up in a second-floor classroom with two female students when the SWAT team decided to move in, the TV news said.

One of the girls escaped uninjured, but the other student was shot before police killed the attacker. She was taken by medical helicopter to an area hospital where she was reported in critical condition.

Authorities said they did not have any information on the gunman or his motive for the attack.

Bailey is about 45 miles southwest of Denver and about 40 miles southwest of Littleton, Colo., where the Columbine High School massacre left 13 people dead in 1999.

uh the people behind the bomb threat or the ones who made you go anyway? Rolling Eyes

regardless, I hope the student survives. The only one who should die from this is the hostage-taker.

We had a bomb threat on my high school once. Excpet when the person wrote the note, they misspelled bomb and wrote "Boom". xD

it was supposedly an 8th grader and guess where we have to go through to get to 8th garde hall! that would have sucked...ofcourse i waited up that day so...idk

they found a pistol in my school's bathroom last year. It's a shame what happened in colorado, shit like that shouldnt happen.

That's sad. At my school, guys often have guns in their trucks behind the seat. No one ever checks because so many would be in trouble. Hell I always had a knife on me, as did many others. We never had any threats of anything though.

I hope the girl lives as well.
