who needs crysis or UT2007 when the Source engine can do stuff like this?!

(you'll have to ignore the fact that whoever made this mod really needs a girlfriend)

Beware: the mod, while awesome, is over 2 gigs.

bah, ut07 and crysis are going to blow it away. this has high res textures, but unless they start incorporating HDR, dynamic/self shadowing models and shadows, land scape and flora rendering, the soft particle system, motion blur and depth of field, crysis and ut are gonne take the trophy. But, according to valve, they do have plans on incorporating such technologies, so it will be interresting to see what happens... Smile

Valve is updating Source all the time, so we might get those things with HL2: Epi3 (unlikely though).

Very unlilkely, the mod places a lot of restrictions on those who can play it reasonably well so I doubt they'd want to push people away by making it a standard.

And something Garrys working on for GMod 10(Source FTW). Short but goddamn sweet.

GMod 10 Gore Video =D

Lost Coast had HDR, and Portal will have motion blur (at least it did in the videos).
So that is 2 of the things on your list that they have already done.

UT 07' looks like a source clone IMO.

one of the major hilights of the source engine is its backwards compatability. they will probably add the eye candy, but there'll probably be an option to turn it all off.

and gmod 10 will kickass. its going to have a lot of the jazzy eye candy. as of now it is possible to do depth of field in the source engine (i believe empire mod did it), so if you want to get an idea of how it will run, try it out.
