Motherboard in. Problem with that solved.

New problems:

1. I was right, vid card is also toast. Whoops. Gotta get a new one and quick !

2. This motherboard is the least supported in the history of mankind. If I want to update the BIOS, I have to do it the old way. Sons of bitches.

3. Driver conflicts = not fun = making this thing slow as shit. Once I get a new video card, I think it's time to reformat anyway.

It could be worse though. The 915P isn't THAT different from 925X. I'll really miss the good ABIT GURU tools I was given, though.

I have only had one good experience with a board swap. my daughter's machine went down a few months ago and it was the board. My buddy X had just bought a socket A board for one of his machines but never did use it. I got it from him and it was like exactly the same board made by a different company. Same chipset and all....sweeeet, that and AMD is a little more forgiving Wink

This is probably true.

The heatsink on mine had a bit of a problem, and actually I'm quite worried. I didn't realize it, but this board is quite smaller than the old one despite also being ATX. There are several capacitors and transistors underneath my heatsink now, whereas before there were just several traces from the CPU area...
