Ok I was stupid enough to buy a Dell(i was on a budget) but I was wondering if anyone knows a good PCI card to get. I was thinking about this one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000E2Y7E/qid=1145791823/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3_3/202-2151660-9063839

but im no computer whiz so any other suggestions would be great

If you are going to want to play some of the more recent games (bf2, etc.) Then I believe you are going to need a geforce 5700 or higher.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814139166R

This card costs a wee bit more, but in the long run it would probably be better than skimping on something that won't run the games you are probably going to want to run Wink

I believe it will work since I was able to run bfv with a pci card. Refurbished means you are going to get a card that has been returned for whatever reason, tested/fixed and the sold again. It probably doesn't include any of the bundled software or cables, but you can usually pick those up pretty easily seperatley

You dont need to install it, computer stores can usually do it for you for a price, or if you have any nerd friends.

Most motherboards have a step by step instruction book that tell you where everything is at so you can build it.

But, there's a problem with RK's idea.

If you buy a new mobo, it has to match your RAM (which is too hard to find, so I just buy new RAM).

If it doesn't have an internal video card, you'd need to buy one that has an internal graphics card. Or use the PCI graphics card if you have it externally.

Basically, You have to buy it in steps.

Use google to find a UK retailer, and see if they sell that card.

Froogle was useless, it gave a whole bunch of AGP cards. Looking on ebay i found the ONE and only fairly affordable card at $100 and over $30 shipping and it doesnt accept paypal overseas so its far from a great deal...
