I've really been thinking about how he was someone who really came crashing down. First he gets smacked in the face with a fastball and breaks his jaw. Next season, he recovers, only to wake up with glaucoma and is forced to retire. He runs into "marital" problems, gains weight, and finally dies of a stroke.

As Kirby said it himself, "Don't take anything for granted, because tomorrow is not promised to any of us."

Although I try and take nothing granted because of exactly what he has said, I think it's time we make an effort to be in better shape because we can be. OK, I'm not way overweight, but I'm starting to put on some extra pounds that I really don't need, and I'm in horrible cardiovascular shape. Today we had the privledge of playing handball in gym - I'm no athlete, but I was dissapointed that I hurried to the bench during subs.

Who's with me?

I had the honor of meeting Kirby at a party at Devon White's house here in AZ. Let me tell you he was a class act, very polite, not pretentious, and he even talked to me for quite a while (so, I guess that makes him charitable, too?)

He'll be missed.

Drunken Monkey:  and yes....i do miss 1942 aswell, i honestly think it is what drove me to get a M1 garand in real live, and is still my most used rifle
Drunken Monkey:  bots are getting silly
Comradekil:  Sup dudes
Messy Recipe:  the BAR-1918 always felt so good in that game
Messy Recipe:  I miss vanilla 1942 as much as Pirates... need to see if the Origin version (or even original) still has anyone playing sometime
