TS + Mic = Not Working

Alright, I've tried 3 mics in TS, and none work, you can barely hear my voice, that's why most you never hear me talking in TS. I have no clue what's going on. I have all my sound settings on Max and I have the 2 boxes checked for a mic boost and nothing changes. Any idea how I can fix it?

is there a box to mute your mic?
do you have volume control on your mic itself?
has your windows settings been changed to a different speaker config? thus cancelling the mic function
plugged in right spot?

try and use the msn audio assistent

try start -> settings -> control panel -> sounds & audio devices

go to the audio tab & where it says audio recording press the volume buttom & turn it all the way up, if that dun work theres a mic boost somewhere, but i cant find it atm, maybe someone else knows

She actually just got a new computer. And the mics did the same thing with the old one at that.

Yeah, I just got a new computer..lol I have both of the mic boosts on, one for the rear and one for the one in the front, still doesn't help. I know the mic works because I was talking to Stealth with it on MSN and it works fine so it seems to only be TS.

Do you have drivers for your sound hardware? Sometimes they take precidence over windows volume control.

It is apparently just TS if you were able to use other applications. The TS settings are a pain in the ass... I would recommend checking all of the tabs and all the settings in TS.

There is also a "Microphone +2dB" checkbox in the volume control somewhere. Mine doesnt work if that isnt checked. I think its in the volume control window anyway... I cant get mine to open here??? Anyway, even though it is TS specific this and what Supa said might be overridden by other apps - especially if it is other microsoft apps.

We need a "getting TS to work thread" and in there the person needs to include buy a usb mic(best advice ever) I have gone through around 6 mics so far and none of them have lasted as long as the USB ones. Not to mention you can do more fun things with usb mics.

Get the cheap Ps2 mics, their 20 $ at walmart.
