It has been a LONG time since I've posted or even been on any servers. I've been having computer problems for awhile and I couldn't get it running etc. etc.. Now to the point. I re-installed BF1942, and put in Pirates and the FINAL. Then I went to go into a server and everything worked. That is until it got to the end of the loading process and then right before i get in the game the whole game program shuts down? The only thing that I can think of to do is: 1) re-install pirates or 2) re-install BF1942 and pirates. Any suggestions on the problem or fixing the problem besides what I've listed? I would be pleased to have any suggestions Very Happy .

that's odd... are you sure you have bf1942 version 1.61? if so, try uninstalling Pirates and JUST installing the Final, since its a full install...

and glad to see that your computer problems are worked out Smile

AND did you say yes to installing Punkbuster? AND did you get the latest Punkbuster update?

Can you play offline?

It sounds like PB or a bad map.

on a fresh reinstall, pb usually works (has every time on mine)

my guess would be the 42 version.... make sure you get the 1.61 full pathch (200 & some odd megs) and then the tiny lil 1.61b patch

Can you play vanilla BF1942 online? Back when I tried letting Wndows autoupdate me to XP Servive Pack 2, it made it so mods crashed when I tried to play online. If you have SP2, try removing and going back to 1, it caused problems for lots of people, but some don't have any problems from it.

Ya I have the latest version of BF1942, and it works offline but when itry to get online on like the last loading bar it crashes. So I'm thinking abour just re-installing it all and see if that works. And when my computer was fixed i re-loaded XP and i didnt put on SP2.

Well, I've encountered something like this before. But I'll do the steps I told him as well.

Uninstall BF1942, which includes the mods. Make sure there's no directories. You could have a bad map and this would solve that problem.
Install you Bf1942.
Download and install the 1.61 FULL Install.
Download and install the 1.61 to 1.61b Patch.
Download and Install Pirates Final

Once all of that is done and it doesn't work, try Uninstalling Pirates and updating punkbuster. To do this manually...
Brutus wrote:

4. UPDATE Punkbuster
a. Download pbweb.exe (save to the "pb" folder in theEAGames/BF1942folder)
b. Run pbweb.exe (note: this .exe MUST be run from inside the "pb" folder!)

Then go install pirates Final.
