I am having a problem with windows and my optical drives. I have 3, a DVD, a burner, and a regular CD drive. Windows is only reading from the regular CD drive...the other two are showing up in My Computer, they just won't read a CD. I have had this problem before with just one of the drives not reading, but a format fixed that. I really don't feel like formatting again as it hasn't been very long since the last one, so you guys have any suggestions?

A format may not be such a bad idea, but if you didn't want to, I suppose you could probably check the headers and the leads on the drives. Perhaps you could unplug them, restart, and re-plug them in?

I would try the re-install. Cant hurt. It fixed my audio after BF2 hosed it - fuggin BF2... Do you have (or can get) drivers others than the windows default? I'd try that too.

well, i uninstalled the drives a few times......i unplugged the IDE cables from the drives after uninstalling them and restarted, shut down and plug in again.....pfffft now they are reading, guess that one did it.....it's for sure a windows thing.....I still can't get the burner to complete a burn with out an error at the end....they usually work, but damn
