At the beginning of October, I'm going to buy a server for my clan. I know you guys are pretty good with server setup and administation. I may need some help with it. I know it will be a Linux server. If anyone has any suggestions or tips, I'd be happy to read them. Example, server config changes. I'll also have a site up soon. I've never used html or phpbb. If anyone would like to help (which probably isn't the case) I'd appreciate it.

Rent your server from some place that allows you to have FTP access (this isn't automatic at some places). Without it you will have to get them to upload new maps for you and such all the time (= pain in the ass)

ya fuck that try clocking in at work at 5 am clock out at 1 pm then clock in at job #2 at 4:45pm and clock out from it at 11:43 to clock in at the other at 6 am

I'm going to get it from clanservers.com. It has ftp access. I know this is very important. I use filezilla (the free one) as a ftp client.

I've had bad experiance w/ clan servers. They used to host our private server and their support was less than stellar (down right moronic in some cases). Although I know FireFox's clan hosts their server there and he has siad that they ahve gotten better. Our TS server is still hosted through them.

Clanservers is all right, you just have to let them know you won't put up with any bullshit and that you are aware of other hosts. They jump through hoops for you then. Wink
