The BattleField Pirates of Pittsburgh took home a lovely, walk off victory today, beating the tough Cleveland Indians by one run in the bottom of the 9th. After being swept by the Indians in 3 games at Jacobs field, the teams traveled to Pittsburgh for a second series.

Today's starting pitcher for the Pirates was ace left hander Two Shoes, who pitched so-so. And by that I mean he had two strikeouts, gave up a bunch of homeruns, and walked away with a no decision. Relief pitching has continued to suck, especially with hardballers Brett Brutus and Captain Crunch.

Outfield defense is still struggling, as is bottom-of-the-lineup offense. Infield defense was good today, Sprite Dude had his first errorless game in a week. No errors were committed by anyone on the team. Catcher Knine Carlos and Center Fielder Special Jimmy teed off today, showing signs of improvement. The team's powerhouses struggled in Cleveland, but the home crowd seems to be a factor.

Most of the game was a see-saw battle, back and forth, until the relievers gave up three combined runs, giving the Indians a 9 to 5 lead over the Pirates. Ace reliever Chase Stealth, who'd been struggling the past few days, pitched a perfect top of the ninth, setting the stage for the comeback rally.

A good few hit and run plays got the team on the right track, with one misexecution leading to Got Milk being caught stealing. Indians fatass closer Bob Wickman came in to close against the pitcher Stealth, who was replaced by PH Taw Xic. Taw smacked a drive to right field for a single, and was replaced on the bases for speed by ... Phil Rizzuto ... who eventually scored a run and helped win the game. After a two-RBI double by Special Jimmy, a hit and run double off the wall by P.J. Breitweiser scored SJ for the winning run. w00t.

Pirates 1, Royals 0 was the final score in a three inning exhibition night game versus Nugget and the royals. Pitcher Travis "SupaFly" Kotila, the right handed knuckleballer, pitched a perfect first inning, walked one in the second on a controversial check swing, and gave up a hit on his only bad pitch. It was all him.

The Pirates fared just a hair better offensively. No runs were scored, albeit a few hits and a really fucked up hit an' run that resulted in a nasty double play. Fortunately, slumping 3rd baseman Chris Slaughter led off the bottom of the third and smacked a deep drive to center field for the win. w00t.

Yeah, Sprite plays good defense at SS but he has a bad throwing arm. Maybe I'll move him to second base and put milk at shorstop Smile
