Ok, instead of getting a new computer, (Which my parents would never pay for) I decided to try and just get a couple new parts and plunder the rest from this old hunk of junk I'm using now. I've been constantly bothering Wang the past couple of nights so I figured I'd post here and see if the rest of you nerds could help me. I'm trying to keep it cheap enough so that I can convince my parents to pay part of it (hopefully under $600).
So far I've got:
CPU+MoBo combo
Video Card
RAM
This stuff adds up to $514.78 according to Zip Zoom Fly

I'm still looking for a PSU and a Case (Wang said MoBo tray=good but all that I could find are damn expensive) so if anyone could help me out that would be cool.

Case is some like five year old low profile case I uhhhh "plundered" from my Dad's office and the PSU is an old one I also got from there (not 5 years old). Both are pretty old/cheap and need to be replaced. I probably should have mentioned that the case is the main problem. Since its a low profile case I can't get a regular video card and my Radeon 9200 can't handle BF2 (which I would not get until it is done beta testing anyway Razz

) and barely plays HL2/CS:S on low so I kinda want a new card.

there is plenty of room left in the 600 dollar budget to get a case and PSU Wink

ok, i came in a lil high, but thats one pimp ass rig

personally, i wouldnt go for the 64 yet, wait a couple years & get a socket 939... itll save you about $100 & give you maybe a 15% performance hit (barely noticable) and you could go cheaper on the hard drive (or not get one if yours is good) and maybe go cheaper on the ram (but the ram i posted is GOOD shit) and the mobo is the same as mine & its quite good, and the chip is a lil better & overclockable (if u feel like it, still pretty good if you dont)

yeah, but if you ship all those parts separately, you end up losing all the $$ u save, plus, between me & my dad weve bought somewhere over $50,000 worth of parts from em, newegg is cool

we build comps for my dads work, we buy the stuff, put it together & then invoice em for all the parts

They don't have a good selection of cases, and as a matter of fact, I'm willing to admit their selection of parts isn't amazing like NewEgg, but is still very good.

I bought almost all of my components from ZZF which were slightly cheaper AND free shipping on top of that, and then I bought my case from NewEgg.
