If I was you monkey I wouldlook into getting a laptop with a built inmodem that goes off the cell towers. They are faster, and they arn't really dial up. My dad has one for work, and he can get internet pretty much anywhere. He says it loads up a website pretty quick, so I doubt it's as slow as supa was saying. My dad says it is billed with his cell, and is about 40 a month for unlimited.

He basically doesn't want to hear about your sex life.

But speaking of internet... what kind of internet do they use for the colleges? Do they have like a type of connection for each particular building or one for the whole place? T4? T1? Cable? Buy your own?

And how fast is it when multiple users are on the same connection?

it is multiple T something lines, probably 4 at least for UK. INT was free, and each room had a big ass 1k+$ router with 5 ports in it, in the room.

As for speed, I could game fine, but at times it seemed a bit slow. When 5000 people hop on the int cuz they are bored around dinnertime, that tends to happen tho. All in all it was comparable to the cable I had at home with the exception of a few times.
