IAMELIPHAS: the great thing about BFP1 is how it totally departed from Battlefield 1942's style of play and developed its own, old-ye-pirate style of play and atmosphere. it became an entirely new game alltogether

IAMELIPHAS: instead of making an entirely new game, new style of play, etc. It tried to emulate the class system, vehicles etc. In other words: it was just BF2 with muskets and skeleton pirates. Not its own unique thing.

IAMELIPHAS: just a severely watered down BF1942 with better graphics. THATS IT.

IAMELIPHAS: This is the "supposed" remake of BF1942. However, it only has the americans vs japs. no brits, and I think no russians.

IAMELIPHAS: Nowadays though. "Less is more". Include less content than the previous games did, less levels. less features. But hey, as long as it "Looks good" it can be marketed
IAMELIPHAS: that way they have to spend less time bugfixing, less time inserting content, etc. just so long as it has a higher polygon count. oh and little "shiny buttons and lights" features.

IAMELIPHAS: And reveiwers aren't of much help either. Used to be reveiwing was very serious. Things like Gametrailers and X-Play and whatnot. They used to anylize games very carefully. Used to measure hwo much content it had in them etc.
IAMELIPHAS: Nowadays its "OH LOOK! ZOMBIE GO BOOM! TEH GRAPHICS ARE AWSUME ok there are some bugs, but WUT LOLOLOL LOOK TEH CAMERA ZOOMS RIGHT UP TO THEIR FACE WHEN YOU TALK TO TEM! THAT WUZENT IN TEH OTHER GAMES SO ITS BETTER LOLOL 5 OUT OF 5

IAMELIPHAS: and I hate to blame mod communities for anything, as first off its not really their faults or anything and they make some just plain awsome things. But I feel one reason for lack of content in a lot of games (especially PC games) is game designers have the attitude of "Peh, bugs? lack of content? who cares? if they want it that bad the mod community can fix it"

IAMELIPHAS: (freeman's mind if you don't get it)... yeah i'm on the night squedule. seriously best thing to do if you odn't have a job and theres a heat wave: sleep during the day and be up at night when its nice and cool out
IAMELIPHAS: I can't wait for the day when graphic technology gets to the point where it really can't make anything look more realistic and just about every computer is capable of it. Maybe then companies will quit using "Gud Gwafiks" as a vice to make a quick buck .
IAMELIPHAS: I mean, its bound to happen eventually. Graphical technology can only go so far before it reaches the point where you can't tell the difference between whats on your screen and whats in real life.

IAMELIPHAS: I bet one day beta testing profession will just become obsolite. I mean really.... you got games with so many bugs in them, and you have beta testers who are paid to test these games. Why waste the money when you can just outsource that to the internet folk who can probably find bugs a lot easier anyway? Money that could be spent on... I don't know, paying people to put in more content.
