Hey all, I am back. Here is some info about the river I spent a good day on.

Put In: Fisherman's Bridge
Take Out: Stone Bridge
Difficulty: Class III-IV
Gradient: 37 ft/mi
Run Length: 12 miles
Current Streamflow 762 cfs @ 08/09/2005 09:16 AM - ARKANSAS RIVER NEAR NATHROP, CO., reading taken from USGS
Flow Information (phone): watertalk 303-831-7135, 2*, 59*. Arkansas River at Nathrop, CO.
Good Level: 700 - 4500 cfs
Streamflow Comments: The flows usually peak between the 1st and 3rd week of June at somewhere between 2000 cfs and 6000 cfs. The water managers try to keep it near 700 cfs for the remainder of the summer. The water is usually turned off in mid-August.

The typical off-season flows are between 150 cfs and 350 cfs. It can spike up at times due to a fast melt-off of low lying snow but this is very rare. The river is runnable without portage in a small craft at these low flows. In a raft, there will be some places where you have to portage, simply because there isn't enough water.
Season Comments: May, June, July, August
Permit: Daily self issued permits required. You can find them at the access points. $2/person for river access and use of picnic site, additional fees for camping
Character/Similar To: medium sized river with deep channels. Lot's of play and at high water some of the rapids link together to form continuous whitewater.
Water Craft: kayak, raft, whitewater canoe, inflatable kayak
Land Ownership: After the first couple of miles it is public. Watch for signs along river designating public lands
Wilderness: no
Camping on River: yes on public lands
Location: In the Rocky Mtn Region (CO), 142 miles Southwest of Denver
Shuttle Logistics: Put-In: turn east off Hwy 285 2 miles north of Nathrop (mile marker 24) on county road 301. Cross the river and turn right at the top of the river.
Rapids: 8 class 3 rapids during normal water levels
Take-Out: Turn east off Hwy 291 onto county road 190 then turn right into the Stone Bridge recreation area.

And this is why you wear sunscreen

I just found out this summer that they make an SPF 75 sunscreen. SPF 75!! That crap will probably stop a laser. I'm pretty sure that when they come up with SPF 100 (maybe they have) it'll be some sort of high-lead based putty. Nothing like sunscreen that protects you from H-Bombs for up to 8 hours.[/quote]

Messy Recipe:  sry about the bots :( been busy & havent gotten round to doing the usual cleanup

need to prolly stick this behind cloudflare or something

Drunken Monkey:  doing well, been building a hobby ranch of my own, got married, no kids, only dogs, sheep and a horse

Comradekil:  so anyway, i wonder how everyone's lives all progressed.. who's in jail? who's grandparents now.. ha life
Drunken Monkey:  and yes....i do miss 1942 aswell, i honestly think it is what drove me to get a M1 garand in real live, and is still my most used rifle
Drunken Monkey:  bots are getting silly
Comradekil:  Sup dudes
Messy Recipe:  the BAR-1918 always felt so good in that game
Messy Recipe:  I miss vanilla 1942 as much as Pirates... need to see if the Origin version (or even original) still has anyone playing sometime
Stealth:  Hello all! Head to the lounge and post a memory!
Stealth:  I saw a BF1942 fraps video of a guy jumping out of a plane and RPG'd another plane. I immediately came here for nostalgia. Miss you all.
Messy Recipe:  I've not tried Sea of Thieves... kinda was bummed to learn its servers don't allow many simultaneous players. gimme 32v32 galleon fights

Drunken Monkey:  merry Christmas you lot
[BB]Piccolo:  Anybody playing Sea of Thieves?
[BB]Piccolo:  I'm amazed I actually still knew my login. We Black Buccaneers certainly had a special relationship with you Cut Throats. Nothing like a fierce rivalry to make the battlefield exciting, eh? :)
