First of all this game is awesome. Finally theres some new turn-based strategy games.

I just have couple of complaints.

1st.

- the difficulty level. Normal is way too easy. I can play missions all too drunk with shit loads of mistakes because of miss clicking and still succeed with minimal losses. AI fails hard most of the cases and I can just pick shoot them and get too lucky with my shots. Even if I get hit I hardly take any damage so it doesn't matter.

- But Classic mode seems too hard. I know what to do, but AI seems to get too much bonuses when shoothing me. Like lucky shots all the time and one shotting my guys. I can probably figure out some lame tactics to use here, like lure them out and pick them one at a time with superior force(because AI does the same thing all the time, so luring them out is easy kills), but game turns totally boring that way. There should be a middle between these two modes, because in classic you fuck once or twice in the game(don't take these bomb defusal missions for fucks sake...) you pretty much have to start a new game, because rookies are total shit, they panic and shoot you.

2nd. Too linear. I blame consoles for this and devs for trying to please console gamers. I would seriously want to see some sales numbers from the devs or publisher and be proven wrong that most of the gamers buying these kind of games are PC gamers.

Because looking at this chart: http://www.vgchartz.com/game/70979/xcom-enemy-unknown/

It's fucking failing on consoles. Shoudn't be a supprise. These gamers get frustrated if you have to think 10 seconds longer and have to focus on game more than 2 minutes(the lenght of the opening cutscene). That's why every console game is either Gears of War or Prince of Persia, both of these genres suck now because every console 3rd person game is mimicking one of the two.

6 squad members is TOO SMALL. Having bigger areas and more troops + enemies would have to make you think hard what to do. You have one path and some smaller paths, which don't make difference at all and that's it. It sucks, beacause these kind of games screams for open areas and actually having to think about flanks. This doesn't have them. Many times I have thought about securing flanks while playing, but realizing that it is USELESS I have stopped it, waste of troops.

Tips for classic mode
-half cover is useless
- satelittes are key to strategic victory
-aliens have better stats then you in the beginning, so don't get into long range skrimishes they will out shoot you,try to close distance and flank
-snipers are the best unit in the game
-don't be afraid to use explosives/sell stuff

I have seen that my sniper has by far the most kills and is the only reliable unit to hit and kill. I also use rocket launchers quite a lot.

I might start a new game and go with the classic mode now when I understand little better what I should be doing. Normal has gotten pretty tough too, because I had no idea that the priority missions moves the game forward and brings new stuff in to the game. So I'm pretty low on tech compared to aliens.

I still think this game should be bigger. 12 members on missions would be in my opinion perfect. Three four member sized squads and flanking that way would make much more sense than using 2 dudes.
