WARNING: This is a Sleeples rant, filled with nerd-lore about games. You have been warned.

I LOVE MMOs, there is just something nice about being able to sit back, watch some TV and grind out a <whatever>. So when I heard they were making an Elder Scroll MMO, I was excited and worried.

It is really hard to make a MMO while keeping the TES feel to it just based off combat and game mechanics alone, but hey it can be done. I was even more excited when I learned it was going to be set in the first era!

You see, despite most games being in the second, third, and fourth eras, there is a still a TON of lore we know about it. Hell, the game has a lore explination for using godmode in the console.

Let me put it this way, the history we know of the Elder Scrolls dwarves that off most of countries. You don't fuck with it.

So Zenimax comes out and says: We will NOT mess with the lore! Then they release this:
Quote:

The game is set somewhere in the Second Era, in the Interregnum.

Okay, I can dig this. So far so good...
Quote:

Cyrodiil is ravished by war, and the Imperials aren't doing so well.

Yep, makes sense.
Quote:

The Tharn family has made a pact with the King of Worms, who has agreed to supplement the Imperial's forces by resurrecting their soldiers.

Oh fuck yeah, we get the King of Worms. That guys is a badass!
Quote:

Secretly, Mannimarco is conspiring with Molag Bal to take over Mundus.

Wait, what? The King of Rape and the King of Worms want to take over the plane of magic? I can dig it.

Quote:
Molag Bal is harvesting souls of mortals, and the player is an adventurer whose soul has been taken, allowing them to constantly return to life.

Nice explanation for an in-game mechanic.

Quote:
He's also sent "Dark Anchors" into Tamriel, which drag Mundus into Coldharbour. The Fighters Guild have taken it upon themselves to remove them.

So, Molag Bal is going to take over the eight planes of the divines+Nirn. By himself?
Quote:

Three major groups have formed: The Aldmeri Dominion, consisting of Altmer, Bosmer, and Khajiit, control Alinor, Elsweyr, and Valenwood. The Daggerfall Covenant, consisting of Orcs, Bretons, and Redguards, control High Rock and Hammerfell. The Ebonheart Pact, consisting of Dunmer, Argonians, and Nords, control Skyrim, Morrowind, and Black Marsh.

What the fuck? This makes no fucking sense. Hey guys, I know we enslaved you/fucked up your cities. Let's be friends? SURE GUY! There is no reason for half of these to exist especially when the Dunmer hate the Nords, and enslaved the Argonians for years! Or how about the Orcs constantly having to rebuild their capital because the Redguard and Bretons keep destroying it. Hey, I have a better one. The Altmer who hate everyone who isn't an Altmer actually siding with people.

Quote:

Time-travel will be featured in the game. In one example, the player throws on some old armor and is put in the owner's role, participating in a battle of long ago.

... It doesn't work that way, Zenimax.

Quote:
Undead werewolves will be featured in the game.

...okay
Quote:

A werewolf named Faolchu has amassed a werewolf army and has taken over Camlorn, High Rock.

.... and there weren't any silver weapons there?
Quote:

The Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Fighters and Mages Guilds are around.

.... I can believe this, all thought the Dark Brotherhood wasn't well known until the death of the son of Tiber Septim in the THIRD era.

Quote:
There will at some point be a battle for the Imperial City which is overrun by Daedra, deciding who will rule Tamriel.

...yeah, yeah yeah.
Quote:

Cyrodiil is like how it was in TESIV.

NO, no no no non. At the beginning of the THIRD era, Tiber Septim used CHIM (basically god mode) to reshape Cyrodiil from its jungle environment to a more temperate and livable environment that we see in Oblivion. How the fuck are they going to justify this? HOW. THE. FUCK?

Zenimax: We won't mess with the lore... NOT!

So basically, Zenimax took a great series with a fucking encylopedia of lore. Decided to say fuck it, and ignore all of it. At the end, we see a catering towards new fans that are not there, and a big fuck you to a sizable chunk of the playerbase that actively plays these games.

The only way I could see those factions working together would be if Molag Bal was a serious threat and they had been forced together. You can be allies, and still not friends.

The thing is this: It takes some serious mojo for a Deadric Prince to appear outside their plane of oblivion at full power. Furthermore the Aedra could in fact interfere if they wanted to, not to mention the other Daedric lords would do something in order to stop a Malog Bal gaining this much power. So is he a serious threat? Yeah, but the mortal races alone would not be alone to stop him. So I could see a pact of convenience, but I doubt it would last long.

I also thought of something else: There is no evidence that the Ayelid empire is present, despite evidence showing that they were in fact around. The only thing I can see happening is a Dragon Break (A pool of time across all of Tamriel where every possible outcome happens, and then time converges normally with every outcome being true, and yet not-true.)

Maybe the game was planned out by Sheogorath.
