I replied but it didn't register the text.
RO is like BF, but more towards realism. Both have vehicles and control gameplay. RO is more refined on this part tho. while BFs gameplay turns into homo circles where people capture everywhere on the map, ROs gameplay is more focused. You usually have two close areas to capture and once that it is done those areas are locked down and game progress into other parts of the map. Something like assault type of gameplay, but much bigger areas and flanking options.
There is also two new gametypes lockdown and campaign. Campaign works as a big warfare thing where each map/province changes something to the whole war. Don't know much about this one. Lockdown is like Counter Strike combined with RO/BF, your team spawn as an assault wave and your objective is to capture locations and once you succeed you will progress into new objective.
While RO is realistic it isn't something like Arma, it's much more faster and intense. In this game killing people is really achievement for the first time players, but once you learn it the game can start to feel really fast paced(when you start you might feel the gameplay is a bit slow, but that's mostly new comers mistake as this game takes some time to learn = adds some depth to the game).
I don't know...it has active modding scene and devs add tons of free stuff along the way(RO1 has got something like twise the amount of content when it was first released, which wasn't that short of content either). You can change the game anyway you want. Right now there are 50-70 player servers in RO/DH(mod) and those are more into bigger maps and longer games. You can easily see the difference once you jump off from vanilla RO into these mods or bigger maps, so there are many option for different preferences.
I had a better post it I lost it
Yeah...so buy it! _________________

Hmm, sounds interesting. I've been wanting to get into a fps and RO has always peaked my interest.
One last question, Although the game is RO: Stalingrad, the screenshots suggest that there's some tropical maps of other places too. So I'm assuming that there are at least multiplayer maps with a broader range of terrain than just Stalingrad.
However, will there be any type of planes? Or will this just be a Ground and Infantry style of game? _________________ Motherfucking Triangles! Being all three sided n' shit, who do they think they are?!

It's the pacific dlc or mod, they haven't decided yet. TWI(guys behind RO and KF), have chosen the path to support competely mod devs with RO2 and Pacific game is the first one to show off. If it's good enough and feel like it's worthy enough to charge for(they will be helping to make it into final release) it will be an small fee expansion(this will not be another shit baiting CoD map pack but an additional and updating expansion pack). TWI won't screw up your money.
There won't be planes that you can control. It's all about ground forces. _________________

Well damn, it sounded about damn near perfect except the fact that it has no planes. =( It doesn't rule out the game of it's high potential, but it certainly would limit modding unless modders can add aircraft themselves somehow.
I've always felt the planes in that era were slow and bulky and were far less dominate than say that of modern air warfare. Would have been nice to have. _________________ Motherfucking Triangles! Being all three sided n' shit, who do they think they are?!

Slow and bulky for their time - but shit they dominated. Hell most of the war in the Pacific was decided by the aircraft and the aircraft delivery systems (i.e. carriers) _________________

I'm merely saddened by their lack of inclusion in RO. Because I agree, to feel the war in the Pacific, you need the aircraft.
However with domination, I was referring to in BF42 where you actually stood some kind of chance against air due to it's slow nature. Unlike Desert Combat, where you were raped before you even saw it. _________________ Motherfucking Triangles! Being all three sided n' shit, who do they think they are?!

Shit, that looks awesome. Question on the gameplay though: What exactly is it that occurs that makes it seem faster paced later? I've read a lot of things about the original that do indicate it seems slower--- do you eventually pick up where to go / what to do to get into action faster? _________________

You get better at it. You react faster and aim better, which makes the game faster. You can camp and wait for your opponent but most of the time that's not really good tactic if you are attacking or defending, because good players will just pop and shoot you if you stay on the same spot. I think it will become even more dynamic in RO2 because it has bullet penetration, so you can't stay behind some wooden objective or window.
Besides scoring kills in this game is a lot more satisfying than most of the other games. It's not just some luck shot that you made and it hit someones over sized hitbox, it takes some practice and good aim to shoot people in this game, something like in BFPirates(gunplay is better than in BFs tho.).
