Is there any reason to put more than 4gb of memory? Any improvements in performance?

Also do I need to delete my Ati drivers and reinstall them when I put second card in place? Or does it just work right away once I connect them with crossfire bridge?

If you have 32bit XP, >4GB won't be used. 64bit will use it tho.

No need to reinstall drivers.

The only thing I know of that can bankrupt that much memory is a 3D program rendering at really high resolutions. Even I have only managed that once.

I have 64bit Vista. No point having XP with 2 card setup with relatively new cards. It would be totally waste and overkill for dx9 games.

That's what I thought, but I have seen people building gaming computers that have 6-8gb of memory. I don't understand why would people buy that extra ram sticks if they aren't needed. That's why I was wondering if it had any point in it.

That's because people buying monster rigs are stupid. What's the point of paying $2000 for a PC when it's going to be outdated in two years either way? Some people just have too much money to spend on anything.

Mara pretty much hit that one on the head. Remember when the first Athlon 64 bit chips came out and nothing could support that kind of speed anyway? I remember gamers buying them just to have them. Those people are insane.
