I'm considering getting one for my PC and I'm not sure where to begin. I'm trying to balance out storage and price. Suggestions?

Suggestion: Non-Intel SSD. Intel's drives are very good but not very well storage/price balanced. I bought (and have been using) an OCZ Agility 120GB SSD. Thing is, I got it back in mid-October before flash memory prices skyrocketed, so the 120GB was only about $260 instead of $360. Most companies have better cost:GB ratios than Intel.

You're going to want to look for an Indilinx controller-based SSD if you're going non-Intel (IIRC these are OCZ, Patriot, Crucial, maybe some others.) I'd recommend OCZ due to their highly-frequented support forums. Indilinx controllers with the latest firmware support the TRIM command in any operating system that uses it (Win 7). If you don't use an OS that uses TRIM, there's another firmware that has garbage collection routines that run under idle conditions. Honestly, I'd wait til the prices dropped a bit to buy one, unless you can't wait. That said, it's probably the most noticeable improvement you can make to a computer.

This is mostly to be a pleasant upgrade more than anything. Since it's not really necessary as of yet, I'll take your advice, which I appreciate. I did notice that Corsair and OCZ make nice SSDs, so I guess I'll just keep an eye on them until the time is right.
