Check the Event Viewer (in Control Panel under the administrative tools; if on Vista just type Event Viewer in the Start menu). Look under Custom Views » Administrative Events and paste any errors related to bf1942.exe you find from around the time of the crash. Generally when a game crashes it makes an error called "Application Error" that will say "Faulting application [game].exe" (in your case bf1942.exe), and "faulting module [insert something here]".

You sure that's the one? I.e. it mentiones it as the cause of the bf1942.exe crash? Usually the "faulting module" portion of an Application Error for the program that crashes will be the cause of said crash. From what I can find on Google that ATI error may be a mostly harmless error with ATI drivers v7.7 and up. Unless you recently updated the drivers and the BF1942 problem started after, it's prolly not the cause.

Fixed.

It was the broken copy of a map I'm working on - I tried to duplicate the heightmap in photoshop and it corrupted everything, including BF I guess...
