What is a good 3d engine?

im trying to understand more 3d engines.. but so far the only ones that ive come across are unreal and pipeline..

are there any more famous engines out there?

I believe Torque (the Tribes 2 engine) was pretty danged popular there for a while.

Unreal has the best/most documentation and tutorials and easy to use tools.

UT3 comes with 10 hours of tutorials...

1500 page how-to book for UT3 will be available too! Shocked

yes ive been looking onto unreal but havent been able to download the trial ive found a great book on unreal but getting the software has been quite a problem...

theres another one such as pipeline..
