after almost a year in the USMC, i think i finally bought something that may allow me to get back with you guys Very Happy

no promises on gaming, but there is no reason why i would not be able to use xfire and the new type of team speak you got since i left.

i just bought a dell XPS laptop

it has a 2.0 ghz core due CPU with 4 mb cash, 2 gb ram, 512 mb geforce 7900 something graphics card, 160 gb hdd space, (i also have a 300gb external hdd as a giant usb drive already) and some other nice little goodies. including a built in broadband modem (400kbps- 1-2Mbps) that gets its signal from cell towers Very Happy

i am thinking the cpu can be upgraded latter.

i am also still planning to upgrade my desktop some day with one of those ASUS geforce 7950 something�s that are basically 2x 512 graphics cards in one. also upgrading my cpu from a AMD atholon 64 3500+ to a AMD atholon X2 64 4600. but i will probably not do either until next year. cant use my desktop any way...no room......+ it is on the other side of the country and is over 60LB.

i should graduate from AAS BN BVRC 6-06 (amphibious assault school, basic vehicle repair course, class 6 out of the 06 fiscal year) December 7th of this year, and with my MOS being in such high demand, i should get stationed on whatever coast line i want (east or west). i chose east, and the only places i can end up there are, some place in Florida (low probability) little creek VA (mid range probability) Quantico VA (medium probability) and camp lejune NC (high probability) in any case, i should be in a much better position to use it and have cable internet. and i will take full advantage of that before i get shipped out to iraq within 3 months of getting there.

good times to come when i get out in the fleet Very Happy

That CPU is a beast, trust me. The only thing I can see you upgrading for a while is the video card. DX10 card are going to rock the market.

a 2 Ghz cpu better than a reletivly new 512 mb grafix card??? WTF???

is the core due really THAT much better than the atholon???

i know it is better, but THAT much better???? damn.........

Look up the benchmarks dude, a midrange core2duo can blow away the flagship athlon proc.

And the thing about the high end graphics cards these days is none of them yet are able to show off all the DX10 goodies. They can display at great frame rates and beautiful graphics with quite a bit of eye candy, but there will be a considerable difference between a DX10 game running with a DX10 card or a DX9 card.
